Massimo Midiri, the rector of the University of Palermo, and Michele Armenise, the managing director of Axians Italia, have agreed to work together for five years to develop cutting-edge initiatives in a variety of sectors related to digital transformation. The goal is to support the skill development of the region’s youthful talent.
With this partnership, Sicily as a whole, the University of Palermo, and Axians hope to build crucial areas of mutual interest. Among the most promising sectors previously recognized are artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Training and choosing exceptional young people with the goal of guiding them onto internships that match their skills and toward targeted postgraduate programs like Master’s degrees and vocational training courses will receive special consideration.
“The University of Palermo has firmly decided to invest in digital innovation, seen not only as a specific field but also a tool to support competitiveness and the expansion of a wide variety of disciplines that in today’s world cannot do without digital technology,” said the rector of the University of Palermo, Massimo Midiri.
