OPERATIONS GEOSCIENTIST required by our Client, an Oil and Gas Operator, to be assigned on a Contract basis, located in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

POSITION SCOPE
The successful candidate will work in an integrated team providing support for the development drilling operations. The primary responsibilities will involve working with the well delivery team in the execution of detailed well planning/design activities, geological evaluations and reservoir characterization requirements. Responsibilities also include taking a lead role in office and well site subsurface coordination and communication, supervision of geologic contractor staff at the wellsite and monitoring HSSE critical activities to ensure safe delivery of wells. As skills are developed there will be an expectation to provide training to less experienced staff in Operations Geoscience.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Pre-spud:
Provide the interface between well engineering and the subsurface team.
Ensure compliance with our Clients Well Delivery Process Steps
Coordinate compiling pre-spud material including the Well Proposal.
Lead in the establishment and implementation of data security, and communication protocols
Define, with the project team, the operational critical success factors for the wells and engage in scenario and pre-spud planning to achieve them.
Assist with Geohazard Assessment Team to monitor shallow hazards/flow reports and interpretation.
Drilling:
Manage all geological activities on rig and provide well site geologic support as needed
Manage mud loggers including mudlogging QC checks/audits, advice on procedures, techniques, and interpretations.
Monitor well progress - assimilate real-time well data, perform geologic and well to seismic correlations and monitor real-time pore pressures in conjunction with the Pore Pressure Team
Maintain continuous communication with the rig, operations team and project team regarding geologic correlations, mudlogging data, geochemistry, pore pressure, and drilling parameters.
Provide operation summary at daily morning call with operations team and rig
QC reports and ensure all data is loaded internally
Summarize activities and distribute Daily and Weekly Summary Reports.
Post-well:
Collate geological data and ensure it is filed and distributed correctly.
Contribute to and QC final logs (mud, composite, completion, etc.).
Assist in preparation and completion of the End of Well Report.
Participate in the After-Action Review process.
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Competencies
The position requires a degree in Geology or Geophysics (BSc., MSc. or PhD.). To be considered, the candidates must have at least 5+ years' experience performing geological operations within a multi-disciplinary team. Experiences / Examples of previous job experience is a requirement
Applicant must have demonstrable skills in the core competences of regional evaluation, log evaluation and 2D/3D seismic interpretation (Petrel), managing subsurface uncertainties, and pore pressure prediction.
Candidate must also demonstrate strong technical/analytical skills and a proven ability to integrate complex datasets. The position may require well site work so candidate must be able to pass the Company's Fitness to Work for offshore operations and have a valid T/BOSIET certification.
