Lead Site Technician

 
LEAD SITE TECHNICIAN, required by our client, an international oil and gas Operator, to be hired on a contract basis, located in Virginia, USA.
 
 
POSITION SCOPE
 
  • Site Technician and Harbour Site Supervisor is a combined role due to the project size. The role is mainly a site technician responsible for checks, inspections, repair and maintenance offshore and responsible for the housekeeping on site and various tasks related to the operation of the site facilities.
  • 5 working days per week app 12 hours per day (Mon-Fri). Deviations may occur if required by the project
 
 
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Supervision of harbour site activities
  • All PPE is up to date
  • Crane and forklift operations
  • Stock and warehouse monitoring
  • Maintenance of site facilities
  • Train site technicians to a level of working independently according to the client's ways of working
  • Onshore & Offshore Work Supervision and training

  • The LST will be responsible for preparing RAMS with STs as well as training STs in safety HSS, working offshore and buddy checks etc.
  • Maintenance and replacement of defective fall-arrestors, navigation lights etc.
  • Cleaning of offshore assets using jet/power washer (includes boat landings etc.)
  • Keep records of offshore structures for bird guano
  • Removal of waste from structures
  • Generator maintenance assistance, fueling
  • Assist with fueling of vessels
  • Inspection of hook-on points
  • Lifting operations at Harbour site and offshore locations
  • Walkdowns and inspections of installed assets offshore
  • Extra tasks can be given depending on agreement with packages eg. Walk downs and tasks from snagging lists.
  • Assist the project HSE department regarding harbour site specific issues
  • Management of safety equipment: PPE, climbing gear including keeping record of inventory and keeping track of the use of PPE, monitoring service life of PPE.
  • Site stock management - consumables for the building
  • Authorise all forklift and crane operation onshore and organise availability of crane
  • Daily housekeeping on site and vehicles, general site upkeep management
  • Building, facility and site boundary safety checks
  • Monitor and record site electricity and water use
  • Liaise with port waste management contractors
  • Site office delivery management.
  • Liaise with shipyard, site security company, and local site contractors.
  • Keep a quarantined area for damaged tools and PPE
  • Daily /weekly/ monthly building safety checks
 
 
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Experience from Onshore or Offshore Wind farms
  • Experience with working as a rigger/banksman/slinger
  • Military naval background - mechanical or electrical (preferred)
  • Knowledge with safety rules on a construction site
  • Must be experienced from Europe with extensive knowledge of ST- and HSS-tasks.
  • The Consultant must be in possession of an i-Phone 4S, 5C, 5S, 6 or 6+ or a Windows phone 8.1
  • GWO courses: Sea Survival, Working at Heights, First Aid, Fire Awareness, Manual Handling.
  • OGUK Medical certificate incl. Chester Step
  • Speaks as a minimum good English
  • High safety awareness and understanding
  • Valid driving license
  • IT skills. Knowledge of how to use Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Team oriented, Service minded and helpful
  • Safety minded (Ability to speak up when work in harbour or offshore is not safe)
  • Can do attitude
  • Willing to go an extra mile
  • Eager to learn a new industry
