PROJECT MANAGER required by our Client, required by our Client, to be assigned on a Contract basis, located in Kingston, Jamaica.
Duration: 24 months ongoing
POSITION SCOPE
This job is responsible for the management and oversight of capital project execution for major projects with initial on-site leadership of a small scale CHP projects in Jamaica. The focus is on contract management, construction and start-up with periodic input into planning, design and permitting. Responsibilities include delivering the projects safely, while meeting schedule and budget commitments. This entails developing, planning, and managing the successful execution of construction management, startup, and commissioning services for gas-fired electric power generation and associated projects.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and oversee the activities and deliverables necessary to progress a project from execution of engineering, procurement and construction contracts through construction execution to commercial operation
Manage and oversee the project team(s), including personnel assigned to the project(s) from other functions, personnel assigned from within the business and contract personnel (provide daily leadership to the project team and technical staff in completion of the project activities)
Contract management (teamwork with contractors in an EPC and stand-alone construction management capacity), including contract variation and change orders reflecting, design, scope of work scope, and schedule changes
Support safety vision and complies with all safety rules, policies, and procedures; maintains accountability for safety performance of subordinate personnel
Project risk management and mitigation, including gap risk, schedule coordination and integration and regulatory/community management, with a focus on claims & suggestions to mitigate impacts and develop workarounds
Work in collaboration with Logistics and Supply Chain, provide management for the delivery and coordination of all materials and equipment necessary to execute the project
Work closely with Development leadership to ensure that projects meet their required performance in terms of scope, schedule, budget, and other requirements such as community relations, off-take customers, and regulatory bodies (incl. permitting).
Attend progress meetings, develop status reports, and delivers presentations as required
Develop and implements a quality audit program, monitor contractor corrective actions, and ensure a quality project conforming to plans and specifications
Compose regular reports to Senior Leadership
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. in Engineering Discipline, Finance, Accounting, Construction Management or applicable course of study or equivalent work experience
7+ years gas-fired power generation capital project execution experience, including overall management of these activities
Fluency in both English and Spanish
Excellent collaboration and conflict resolution skills are required
Ability to plan, coordinate, and provide leadership in the execution of complex construction projects and effective in making objective decisions
Knowledge of theory, principles, and practices of engineering & construction
Knowledge of design-build project delivery methodology
Ability to delegate and manage multiple operations and scopes effectively
Ability to assess the operational effectiveness of contractors
Written and oral communication skills to support decisions and recommendations
Ability to analyze and interpret technical materials accurately and effectively
Strong knowledge of engineering drawings and specifications
Strong team philosophy and demonstrated interpersonal skills
Ability to work with construction contractors, vendors, and consultants
Demonstrated analytical skills
Demonstrated record of commitment to safety and all safety procedures and best practices.
Proven ability to lead staff and to plan, organize, and successfully execute work on schedule, within budget, and with client satisfaction

Experience in construction site logistics planning, resource planning, construction and commissioning means and methods, job site management, capital budget and schedule management, and vendor/subcontractor management
