Mechanical Engineer

MECHANICAL ENGINEER required by our client, to be hired on a permanent basis, located in Baltimore, Maryland.

POSITION SCOPE  
   
The Mechanical Engineering will support various team members and Clients during all aspects of projects. The Mechanical Engineer will frequently get involved in problem solving of existing facilities under operation. The candidate must have very good understanding of all type of process and utility equipment, and must have minimum 10 years of direct engineering work in one or more of the major categories of process and utility mechanical equipment like pressure vessels, heat transfer equipment (heat exchangers and fired heaters) or rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, expanders).    
   
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES    
   
Prepares or checks the quality of design and sizing calculations, equipment datasheets, specifications, requisitions and tables of bid evaluation for those equipment items or systems within his/her area of expertise     
Reviews vendor documents and/or drawings within his/her area of expertise     
Supervises and controls the preparation of all mechanical engineering documents and activities    
Does and/or coordinates various studies including mechanical equipment, metallurgy and materials selection, equipment performance, HVAC systems, piping design and pipe stress analysis and preparation of reports    
Provides Mechanical Engineering services to operating facilities     
Ensures that safety, environmental and quality requirements are met     
Leads and mentors junior engineers     
Fosters a spirit of enthusiasm, client focus and team building     
Actively participates in industry conferences and seminars     
Builds effective relationships and be viewed as the "go-to" person for mechanical engineering problems and questions     
Develop new and build existing company relationships with Clients.    
   
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS    
   
Minimum of 20 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience with minimum 10 years as a senior or principal mechanical engineer    
Minimum 10 years of direct engineering work on one of the major category of process and utility equipment    
Minimum 5 years as mechanical engineering lead on oil, gas and petrochemical projects    
A university degree in mechanical engineering    
Very good experience with and understanding of industry Codes and Standards including: ASME, API, NFPA, ISO, ANSI, NACE, EU, etc.    
Experienced and familiar with typical major oil & gas clients' technical specifications    
Very good experience with the common engineering and office software within the area of expertise    
Proven ability to effectively be a project team member or team leader and transferring knowledge to others    
Excellent analytical, facilitation, technical writing and communication skills  
Act as a peer reviewer in the area of expertise on project proposals, cost estimates, technical documents and studies produced by other engineers.    
Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative member of a team    
Provide Project Management skills when assigned to a project in that capacity
