Process Engineer

PROCESS ENGINEER required by our Client, an International Oil & Gas Operator, to be based in Hassi Berkine, Algeria on a Contract basis.
 
DURATION: 24 months
 
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Lead process related projects through engineering, planning, resourcing and implementation phases.
  • Develop and communicate isolation philosophies to operations personnel. 
  • Establish practical application guidelines. Follow through after shut down.
  • Develop standard decommissioning procedures based on isolation and shut down philosophies that will be referenced and used for the life of the plant.  System by system and full battery limits.  Follow through after shut down.
  • Develop standard recommissioning procedures based on start up philosophies and operations procedures. Follow through after shut down.
  • Support commissioning by providing technical review and oversight of system startup and testing programs.
  • Follow-up on outstanding HAZOP action items.
  • Provide technical support to mini-hazops associated with Field Change Proposals.
  • Provide on site input into operational optimization of the plant, both for daily operations and for major de-bottlenecking
  • Projects and start up operations to maximize plateau.
  • Provide technical support with analyzing plant performance problems using HYSIS plant models. 
  • Support allocation calculations as required to account for various process fluids within the CPF.
  • Assist operations personnel by establishing training routines of likely scenarios for the proposed Process Training Simulator.
  • General technical support by supplementing the existing Technique Department staff which consists of Electrical, Instrument, Mechanical, and Electronique engineers.
  • Provide functional input into establishing and managing corrosion monitoring programs, scale inhibition and general oversight to our chemical supply and service contractor and laboratory contractor
 
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Degree or equivalent in Petroleum or Chemical Engineering or related discipline. Chartered Engineer status preferred.
  • At least 10 years petroleum industry experience with 5 years or more year's experience directly supporting daily plant operations & maintenance.
  • Specific experience with black oil production, water handling, dehydration.
  • Condensate & NGL processing required.
  • Experience in developing & writing decommissioning procedures is particularly important, preferably with a major oil company.
  • Fluent in English.
  • French (advantageous but not mandatory)..
  • Arabic (beneficial).
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse, remote and challenging environment.
 
Limitations:
 
  • Candidates must meet age restrictions required to obtain a Algerian work permit with a minimum of 2 years available service for the purposes of visa renewal.
