Shell has invited drilling contractors to bid for BSP (Brunei Shell Petroleum) job in the Bongot field in Brunei.
The drilling campaign in Brunei will cover a firm charter term of six years, with an additional two two-year options beginning in June next year.
Rig specialist such as Singapore-based drilling contractor Energy Drilling, Seadrill and Sapura Drilling are believed to have been invited to the tender.
Sapura will likely offer Sapura Pelaut, which is already on contract with Brunei Shell Petroleum for a 150-day development drilling campaign in the South West Ampa area that BSP has said is sure to commence shortly. The Sapura Pelaut vessel has been working for BSP since delivery in 1994.
However, a modern unit would be preferred by BSP according to sources. It has allegedly specified in its tender that a rig with less than 15 years employment would be preferred.
PTTEP, a national petroleum exploration, and production company from Thailand are also inviting rig specialists for a tender. PTTEP are seeking a tender assist rig or a jack-up for a campaign in the same area, Bangkok field, for a duration of one year, with seven months of options. Due to commence in the first quarter of 2020.
Only contractors that have previously worked with PTTEP are believed to be invited for the tender. Rig specialist with experience from PTTEP includes Energy Drilling, Seadrill and Sapura Drilling for the tender rig and EnscoRowan, Vantage and China Oilfield Service Ltd for the jack-up.
