WORKFORCE AND LOCAL CONTENT MANAGER required by our Client, an International Renewable company, to be hired on a Permanent basis, located in Bridgeport, CT

Duration: Permanent

POSITION SCOPE

The Workforce and Local Content Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the clients commitments to training and employing a local offshore wind workforce as well as ensuring local businesses have opportunities in the growing US offshore wind supply chain. This role will report to the Manager of Workforce and Supply Chain Development and will require local and regional travel.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and advance partnerships primarily in CT, but also in NY, to train local workforce, working alongside universities, community colleges, vocational-technical and high schools, economic development councils, NGOs, etc.
  • Identify workforce skills needed within Project and supply chain and propose strategies to fill present gaps in workforce
  • Keep stakeholders and partners apprised of ongoing VW workforce needs
  • Monitor and provide feedback to existing educational programs, refining through iterative and collaborative process
  • Collaborate with partner organizations to ensure continuity and broader offshore wind industry buy-in on efforts
  • Identify opportunities to ensure key demographics and underrepresented populations have access to workforce opportunities and where applicable, identify and work to address barriers to entry
  • Work with package managers/contractors across all packages to implement Look Local First commitment, understand subcontracting needs and ensure contractors have access local resources
  • Develop and implement internal process to ensure contractor compliance with local commitments
  • Proactively engage with economic development councils, local chambers of commerce, and business association groups in target communities around local offshore wind supply chain opportunities
  • Identify areas for appropriate local supply chain support and resource/workforce needs and where available funds can be best invested/leveraged
  • Determine pathways for making connections of local businesses into supply chain, focused on primary suppliers
  • Build network of local business stakeholders
  • Ensure workforce development and supply chain efforts are well integrated with each other
  • Participate as a key member of the outreach team, identifying opportunities to advance workforce and supply chain efforts within project communities
  • Provide general support to the Manager of Workforce and Supply Chain Development

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • background and education related to energy policy, public policy, workforce development or supply chain integration.
  • 5-10+ years’ experience working in building collaborative, goal-oriented partnerships and efforts preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication skills to advance efforts both within the organization as well as externally among stakeholders and the public.
  • Familiarity with the communities in which the client is working (Bridgeport, CT) is highly desired.
