Senior Sourcing Manager – Purchasing required by our Client in the Renewables sector to be assigned on a Contract basis, located in Boston, MA.

 

Duration:           ongoing (one year+)

 

POSITION SCOPE

 

Supports affiliate Operating Company critical infrastructure/ major projects as the purchasing and commercial lead for Offshore Business. Co-administers the competitive bidding process for large and complex projects valued at up to several hundred million dollars. Supports suppliers’ selection and manages corresponding partnerships for the US Offshore related companies. Drive cost reduction initiatives, customer service levels, generate reports and other initiatives across the Offshore Business. Mentors colleagues in Purchasing and lends experience and knowledge to assist others in the department and the business. Perform other duties assigned by management.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Strategically sources commodities and services on offshore critical infrastructure/major projects and other projects valued at up to several hundred million dollars, using a variety of traditional and leading-edge methods. Co-administers the competitive bidding process, evaluates and selects suppliers based on the Procurement Services Policy Manual and annual budgetary requirements.
  2. Co-leads cross-functional affiliate teams to drive purchasing initiatives and improve bottom line performance.
  3. Maintains current and accurate understanding of a broad base of commodities, service categories and general business conditions. Tracks material/ service costs, and performance using approved metrics and tools. Analyzes trends and makes corresponding sourcing decisions that contribute directly to competitive position.
  4. Participates in key negotiations and awards in multi-faceted, large and complex, business wide and affiliate specific enterprise contracts to minimize operational, legal and financial risks. Formulates requests for proposal/quotations/information, bid analysis, tenders, and risk evaluations. Supports supplier negotiations and agreements administration. Collaborates with both internal and external legal counsel.
  5. Supports the preparation of materials for the Committees as well as early agreements required with the bidders before FID.
  6. Provides background and pricing references to the Projects based on previous projects experiences and market tendencies, helping the Project in setting right market targets during negotiation phase.
  7. Mentor junior members of the Organization. Drives creative solutions and communicate/ suggest best practices to management and colleagues

 

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of five years relevant experience required.
  • Previous experience in managing and coordinating large/ complex Projects.
  • Knowledge of supply chain methodologies, models, and procedures.

 

Certifications:

 

  • C.P.M., C.P.S.M, or equivalent or working toward achievement will be a plus.

 

Skills/ Abilities:

 

  • Strong oral, written, and presentation related communication skills.
  • Strong Customer Service Orientation.
  • Clear commercial focus (i.e., Contract writing, negotiation).
  • Proven record of increasing responsibility in an individual contributor role.
  • Proven project management and work planning skills.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in use of personal computers including word processing, excel spreadsheets, power points and SAP.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Good Understanding/experience/ Interest in the power businesses will be a plus.
