Project Control Lead

London Based contract

3 days per week in the office

Duration – 12 months (initially)

Purpose of the Role:

The role involves project controls (cost, schedule, forecasting) of all engineering, project execution and tracking as well as commercial elements of the business, key to controlling all business risk and exposure. You will be involved at both pre-and post contract stages of all business tendered or passing through business.

Essential Skills
Applicants require experience in working in an operator or contractor projects team within large multi discipline delivery. The role mandates previous experience in upstream offshore oil and gas.
Main Responsibilities and Activities (as listed but not limited to the following):

  • Responsible to control and monitor project total expenditure including verifying and checking of invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors and contractors to ensure that all project expenditures are captured and properly recorded and tracked
  • Provide planning and cost controlling support for all projects which includes variation reporting, monitoring of milestones, variation verification and interface with Project Engineers and Project Managers
  • Perform and manage project activity planning and monitoring
  • Perform cost and schedule as well as support commercial review of EPC and EPCI projects progress
  • Perform commercial evaluation of major permanent material orders.
  • Ensure effective project implementation and utilize productive reports from the creation of WBS with the use of project management system to monitor the status of all purchases, invoicing and delivery up to the closure of the project.
  • Coordinate and work with the project management team to resolve project issues to ensure the delivery/completion of the project work.
  • Perform project costing related reporting to the team and management’s review on a monthly basis to ensure that expenditures are kept within the project budget.
  • Undertake any other ad-hoc duties as required.
  • Must have experience in material estimation, schedule, resource planning and resource development activity. The work experience in the revamp project added advantage.
  • Experience in Contract management, claims, and variation validation and tracking
  • Proactive approach in decisional process;
  • Promote cost reduction and productivity enhancing initiatives.
  • Overall control of project schedule
  • Overall control of project costs:
  • Preparation of budget in conjuction with project managers and project engineers
  • follow-up of commitments, expenses and cost forecast

Other Activities (as listed but not limited to the following):

  • Coordinates with Company and other entities of the project
  • Ensures accurate reporting of activities
  • Maintains good relationship with internal and external parties

HSEQ responsibilities:

  • Support and enforce HSEQ objectives and directives
  • Promote HSEQ awareness of workforce and contractors and ensure that HSE is given the highest priority
  • Listen to, evaluate any project team member’s concerns; ensure that potential failures, weaknesses and hazards are immediately addressed and reported
  • Conduct alignment sessions for project management team members with respect to objectives
