CREDIT RISK JUNIOR ANALYST required by our Client, an oil and gas company, to be hired on a full-time basis, located in Houston, TX

Duration: Permanent

PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Analyze exposures through the trading systems.
  • Analyze current market events and counterparties.
  • Maintain a Credit Risk analysis model.
  • Assist accounting with collection issues.
  • Monitor and assess active accounts to reduce or prevent bad debt losses.
  • Assist in developing financial models that predict credit risk exposure of the organization and oversee the preparation of performance reports for management.
  • Assist in controlling costs associated with operating and collecting credits.
  • Execute and deliver of key projects and initiatives.
  • Oversee of the consumer quality function; identify the scope and prioritize local quality control resources.
  • Provide support for pricing and new product process for credit risk inputs (loss assumptions and product risk assessments).
  • Support in monitoring global capital markets to forecast emerging risks.
  • Provide risk forecast report to proactively mitigate potential losses across multiple business areas and functions.
  • Provide operational risk measurement for trading portfolios.
  • Support policy specialist and risk review teams.
  • Remain up to date on company limits usage, excesses and risk procedures.
  • Analyze financial statistical data quantitatively and qualitatively.

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Commodities risk experience (0-2 years) ideally from a trading company. Actuarial consultancy or ratings agency also acceptable.
  • Sound understanding of investment fundamentals, asset classes, sectors and principles.
  • Degree or professional qualifications in financial modelling, economics, quantitative risk or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of energy supply & trading and risk management, including a solid understanding of ETRM systems, processes and controls as well as physical deal modeling, and inventory valuation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the proven ability to work well in cross-functional teams and independently with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of SQL Database query, Excel VBA, Power BI analytics or other programming language is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to think outside of the box and deal with ambiguity.
  • Proven business acumen, attention to detail and a strong commitment to ensuring deadlines are maintained and achieved.
